Wildseed Games
Client
Wildseed Games is a game studio that aims to create inspiring and memorable games for all. They are leading the transition in the gaming industry by featuring historically underrepresented people in their AAA games. Their ultimate goal is to develop games that showcase the positive aspects of PLAY for people. They envision a world where digital play brings out the best in humanity. They required a distinctive brand identity reflecting what they stood for to bring their vision to life.
Challenge
With Wildseed, the superstar is always the games. We had to create a brand that didn’t overshadow their products but elevated them. And yet, in a market where parent brands are often somewhat amateurish or traditional, we had the challenge of designing something innovative without being pretentious. A brand that conveys reliability and, at the same time, it speaks creativity.
Result
We started the process by understanding the Ensō circle and its symbology of Zen. It represents a pure expression of the mind when one achieves consciousness of the present in a flow state. Looking deeper at Wabi-Sabi's concept of asymmetry and imperfection, we created a symbol like Ikebana. A strong arrangement of visual elements with a subtle minimal "imperfect" shape that adds movement and humanity to it.
We created a solid and robust symbol using Zen's flow movement combined with the asymmetrical and human aspect of Wabi-Sabi ornaments. This emblem represents the company's essence: games that grow and spread like wildfire, combining a solid circular form with organic and fluid line elements.
Typography-wise, we created powerful yet elegant lettering that counterbalances the irregular and organic lines of the Wildseed Games symbol.
Featuring both curved and fluid elements, along with geometric and rational details, such as the serif's triangle appearance and the prominent X-axis, it's the perfect choice for its strong icon.
